Sunday morning

A couple photos from this morning.

Cole practicing drinking out of his sippy cup.

He has a slight obsession with magazines. I think he inherited that from his mom!

Reading "That's not my monster." Notice that he is reaching out to touch the monster. This is a new thing! He's starting to interact with his books, which is so cool. He's really gotten into "Pat the bunny" and "Where is baby's belly button." And surprisingly, for such an active and antsy little guy, he will sit and read a whole book, sometimes even two or three if he's sleepy.

Camp Klink

Brittney is on vacation this week, so Cole headed over to Camp Klink to hang out with my mom, Krista, and the kids. Never a dull moment over there, that's for sure, and he had a blast! Trying to keep up with his cousins meant that he had to step in up a notch with his crawling. He's definitely gotten a lot faster over the past couple of days. He moves like an inch worm across the floor and every now and then actually gets his knees underneath him. It's pretty funny to watch. We'll need to get that on video soon before he transitions into full-on crawling. I know I've said it before, and I'm sure I'm going to say it many more times, but I just feel so lucky to have the rest of the Klinks in Corvallis. Alex and Cole are becoming little buddies, and it's so dang cute.

Fathers Day weekend

This weekend I headed down to San Francisco for a girls weekend to celebrate with Maya, who is getting married in just a couple of weeks. It was my first overnight away from Cole!

My weekend went a little something like this:
  • Friday: met up with Maya's friends from Colorado, then met up with a few of our UO girlfriends at a place called AsiaSF where we ate before heading out dancing, ended the night at Cha Cha Cha for tapas and sangria -- YUM

  • Saturday: our limo picked us up at 10am to go wine tasting in Sonoma Valley, we visited two amazing wineries, it was hot (yay!), we drank lots of good wine, then returned home (a bit sleepy) for a relaxing evening, Maya's friend Sahar cooked us dinner, Sarah came over, hung out at the house visiting and talking about the wedding

  • Sunday: got home in time to spend some time with Cory and Cole on Fathers Day
Cole and Cory's weekend went a little something like this:
  • Friday: went out to dinner with the Klinkhammer crew
  • Saturday: Quincy's 1st birthday party in the morning, dinner @ grandma and grandpa's house

  • Sunday: breakfast @ grandma and grandpa badger's house for fathers day
An update on the latest and greatest with Cole:
  • He is an eating machine! Recently his food intake has definitely increased, both in the amount of formula that he's drinking and the amount of solid food that he's eating. He also has started eating more regular 3 meals a day (versus just dinner). And in the past couple of days he has started wanting to self-feed. He'll grab the spoon when we're feeding him and then refuses to give it back. Last night I just decided to let him do his thing to see what would happen. Pretty messy, indeed.

  • He is now completely weaned from nursing and is full-time bottle baby. I'm happy to have been able to nurse him for 8 months. He has made the switch smoothly, which has been nice.
  • He's getting quicker and quicker with crawling every day. The other morning I put him down in the middle of the floor and then went over to make breakfast. When I came back he was gone. I found him hiding behind one of our chairs on the other side of the room, playing with one of his toys. I have to admit that it scared me at first, though. I'm so used to him being where I left him!
And finally, a little Fathers Day video for you.

cousins!

It is so wonderful to have Nathan, Krista and the kids in Corvallis! I love the fact that we can get together for impromptu bbqs and that the kids can play together while we drink wine and chat. Yeah for cousins!

Alex the little angel. What a camera hound!

As close as we could get to all of them looking at the camera at the same time.

Alex is SO big!

And Cole is pretty big, too. He's working on his standing skills. Pretty good for a little less than 8 months.

Okay. I had to add a couple more. They are just too dang cute.

update on life with Cole

Cole is determined to learn how to crawl. And he's getting closer every day! Currently he does this inch worm type of move, where he gets his butt way up in the air, and then pulls his knees underneath him, and thrusts himself forward. I've got to get that on video. He's also gotten really good at pulling himself up on things. And has discovered the magazines underneath our coffee table. He likes to pull them down and then tries to eat them. He'll try to eat just about anything. He likes to eat!

Which brings me to the next photo. A close up of Cole from dinner tonight. His favorite food seems to be sweet potatoes. We've been making our own at home, which is super easy and I think they taste better than the jarred variety.

And I had to include a photo of Cole in his Badger onesie. Thanks to Aunt Olivia for this one. So very cute!
