Dr. Badger

Cole is finally back to healthy after a week of being sick with a whole bunch of stuff including pink eye, an ear infection, and a 103 degree temperature. For a couple of days he pretty much just slept all day, had no appetite and was understandably quite whiny. No fun for any of us! After we got some antibiotics in him (which was NOT an easy job -- he fought the medicine like crazy), it wasn't long before he was back to his energetic self. My mom brought him this baby doll as a get-well present, which Cole likes to give medicine. We made up a medicine song to make taking medicine seem like fun (it didn't really work) so he sings it when he wants to give the baby medicine. Just like Cole, the baby gets medicine in her ears, eyes, nose and mouth. Good job, Dr. Badger.

Ride 'em cowboy

A favorite recent activity - riding his rocking horse, exclaiming "weeeeeee" the whole time.

mommies

Cole calls Cory "daddy" and he calls me "mommies". Not sure where the plural comes from other than that I often say "that's mommy's" when he goes to pick up something of mine that I don't want him to have. Anyway, there's not much of a story here, I just wanted to make a note of it because I'm guessing sometime soon he will transition into calling me something else and I want to remember the mommies stage.

SQUEEZE!

Cole is really into giving hugs and kisses these days. My favorite thing recently is that Cory taught him how to "squeeze" so instead of giving a hug he wants to give you a squeeze, which just means a big hug and he says "squeeeeeze" while he's doing it. Makes my day, for sure.

Easter

We hosted Easter brunch this year and had a wonderful time. My parents, Nathan & Krista and the kids, and lots of yummy food! Cole and Alex got all dressed up for the occasion, don't they look like such little men?

Check out the Klinks blog for some more photos.

some outside time

We've had some good weather recently and its been really nice to get outside to enjoy the yard. The backyard is pretty much done after lots of hard work last summer, just adding a few plants and Cory has plans to build another retaining wall up on the hill. Cole loves any chance to be outside, especially if he can chase Farley around.

Easter egg hunt

Our neighborhood Easter egg hunt was this morning at the park. We had beautiful weather and there were lots of kids. It was fast and furious! I think the event from start to finish was maybe 15 minutes. Cole wasn't exactly sure what he was suppose to do with his basket, but did humor us for a couple of minutes before he headed to the playground, where we ended up playing for almost an hour. Great start to our day!

weekly update

Last Sunday Cory's parents and Grandma Billie came over to visit. I took this opportunity to snap a photo of the 4 generations. Every time that I have my computer out now, Cole insists on seeing the photos of "Gigi" (his name for Billie). Oh, and a funny thing about Gigi. She is getting up there in age, and sometimes just needs to rest her eyes during our visits. Whenever she would do so, Cole would walk around to all of us saying "shhhh" and pointing to Billie. What a considerate little boy!

Thursday was my first official Rebecca Badger Marketing day. I'm slowing transitioning out of my role at Edge, so through April and May I will be Mon-Wed @ Edge, Thurs @ Madison Ave Collective (the shared workspace where I'll be renting a desk) and Friday w/Cole. It was a great day full of meetings, both with clients and for some of my volunteer work.

Cole has never really shown a preference for any clothes, but this week he has chosen a definite favorite. These Winnie the Pooh Hugh Heffner-style flannel pjs are all that he wanted to wear. And I pretty much let him wear them all day on Friday, except for when we had our Little Gym class.

We had some beautiful weather on Friday afternoon, so we headed to the park. I just love this photo.

new books

There are so many wonderful childrens books out and my favorite place to hunt for them is at garage sales. Cole and I stopped by a garage sale today and found this one that I instantly fell in love with. Cool cover and great illustrations. And only $1!

How would you act? by Ruth and Stan Brod

Cole's current favorite is The Little Train by Lois Lenski, which we have on loan from library. He picks favorites based on subject matter, imagine that :) and is really into trains right now. This book has more words than most books that we read and he actually asked to read it twice last night, which is a first.
